Grammy-winning singer Charli XCX wears custom Chrome Hearts outfit for her new single "Rock Music"

With this overwhelming sense of what this summer will become crystallized in a truly era-defining album, the first name that comes to mind is Charli XCX.

Over the past two summers, Brat has dominated the entire summer season, and now Charli is back with her new single "Rock Music" and a music video full of her longtime stylist Chris Horan's style, saving the summer.

We reached out to Chris to learn all the details about the video, the styling, and her experience working with Charli.

Perfect: What was the styling process like for the Rock Music music video?

Chris Horan: "Charli [XCX] and I had been discussing the visual language for a few weeks. When it came time to do the video, it was easy to just go with what we'd been discussing. One night in early February, we had fun experimenting with different elements we both gravitated toward. Those were some things I picked up at cheap vintage shops in London. That initial 'mix' helped us nail down the direction we wanted. I'd say we were building on Charli's personal style, rather than starting from scratch and creating a 'new look'."

Chris Horan: "There's another stunning Chrome Hearts custom leather pants and jacket set. A custom 7 For All Mankind silk dress, paired with opaque tights and platform heels. A shrunken Ann D velvet blazer, paired with the school uniform shorts they custom-made for her."

I had Jane Jones Jewelry custom-make a custom leather collar with a 2-carat diamond. It was super cool. We paired it with a cute Fallen Angels skirt, vintage bra, and Abra white high heels with a black bow.

"I also like the way Mark Gong pairs low-waist leopard print pants with a fur jacket, along with the peek-a-boo bra from Agent P. Jimmy Choo created many beautiful custom high heels and boots for us, embellished with sequins and a high-gloss finish—these will definitely become must-have styles for the coming months."
