Bearbrick, also widely known as the building-block bear, is a toy produced by Japanese company MediumICOM. It officially launched in August 2001, and by 2009 the 18 th generation had been released. Distribution in mainland China is handled by PPW.
Also known as: Bearbrick, be@rbrick, BB, building-block bear, Brick bear.

Bearbrick: Overview

Model:Each Bearbrick generation includes base models: BASIC, JELLYBEAN, PATTERN, FLAG, HORROR, SF, CUTE, ANIMAL.
BASIC Base Model:Each generation releases one color as its signature color. It features one glitter bead on the chest, with 9 letters that spell out B E A R B R I C K.

JELLYBEAN Clear:Each generation features transparent colors—predominantly clear but released in different hues.

PATTERN:Each generation offers different patterns, prints, or special motifs.

FLAG Flag:Each generation features a signature flag collection.

HORROR:Horror anime characters across every generation.

CUTE:Each generation features one cute design, most often created by female designers.

ANIMAL:Each generation includes an animal-themed piece. It doesn't have to be a real animal—the 18 collection features the iconic Hello Kitty.

SF Sci-Fi Style:Features a recognizable sci-fi icon.

ARTIST Edition:Designed exclusively by a renowned artist; only 2 pieces per generation.

Each generation also includes varying numbers of hidden styles, which are never officially announced—players must discover them on their own.

积木熊 BE@RBRICK BLACK Scandal Yohji Yamamoto × Suzume Uchida × SHIP&crew Us in me 100% & 400%
Size:7 cm at 100%, 14.5 cm at 200%, 28 cm at 400%, 70 cm at 1000%, plus 3.5 cm at 50% and 5 cm at 70%—six different sizes in total

Specifications:Each generation includes a birth certificate card for every bear, with one or several limited or hidden editions released to enhance the collecting experience.

Material:Bearbrick is primarily made from ABS and PVC, with select limited editions crafted from metal, wood, or flocked materials.

Origin:Most are manufactured in mainland China, with a small number of limited editions produced abroad.

Version:What collectors refer to as the 'Japanese version' or 'Hong Kong version' simply refers to the region of sale—there is no difference in the product itself. All are produced by the same manufacturer. Depending on local regulations, different certification labels may be applied, but otherwise they are identical. The mainland version available for purchase is exactly the same as the Japanese version.

Specifications:

Head:Typical bear-head characteristics: both ears are equal in size (unlike Qee's mismatched ears), slightly protruding cheeks and lips, small rounded nose protrusion, no mouth or eyes (blank body), head can rotate 360° freely at the neck

Torso:Belly rounded, back straight

Arms:100% version features fully rotating shoulders; pincer-style hands with no fingers; hands rotate freely at the wrists (the defining trait that sets it apart from Popobe and other bear plush toys)
Waist:Can rotate 360° freely; hips slightly extended downward.

Legs:Can rotate freely at the thigh joint in all directions. Top of foot slightly extended forward with two round holes on each foot. Soles are flat with one round hole on each foot. Cube-shaped legs. Version info typically on the back of the leg.

Disassembly:By design, the head, arms, and legs on a Bearbrick are detachable from the torso (simply pull them off with force; the hands are not detachable). However, this is not recommended for play—repeated separation loosens the joints over time, leading to chronic detachment. Without the structural fit, the pieces become loose and floppy.

400% and 1000% special notes:These two sizes share the same Bearbrick body shape, just larger. However, the arms and legs can only rotate forward and backward in a single plane—they cannot swing to the sides. This is due to internal gear design in the larger sizes, unlike the 100% which uses modular assembly. Neither size is disassemblable, so avoid using force.

Origin:Bearbrick's limbs and body resemble a block figure because it adopted the Kubrick design. The term Kubrick originated from LEGO's block figures, and Medicom built upon this to design Bearbrick.

Character:Bearbrick's widespread popularity comes not only from its fresh design and meticulous paintwork, but also from Medicom finding the right entry point. By cross-pollinating streetwear, street culture, and film with Bearbrick, the brand created entirely new works of art. Collaborations with artists, designers, and popular brands worldwide resulted in limited and special editions. Paired with streetwear labels, Bearbrick pieces sparked overnight queues and frenzied purchasing, driving prices ever higher—collectors today must pay a steep premium.

FAQ

Notes on authenticity, packaging, DOG TG, silver care, and official CHHES channels.

1. How does CHHES ensure authenticity?

CHHES follows a five-step authenticity process: sourcing review, inbound inspection, third-party authentication support, tamper-evident tagging, and after-sales review.

Items are mainly sourced from Chrome Hearts boutiques, professional buyers, and partner stores. Every item is checked before shipping.

Jewelry is checked for shape, engraving, handmade finishing, material, and oxidation details. Apparel is checked for anti-counterfeit details, serial information, embroidery labels, and workmanship.

Depending on the item, CHHES can provide a counter receipt scan or copy. Original receipts are kept by the buyer for record keeping.

Items may include a security tag or anti-swap sticker. Authentication after delivery is supported when the tag and packaging remain intact.

If you have any authenticity concern after delivery, keep the item, tags, packaging, and authentication proof intact, then contact dedicated support for review.

If this is your first order and you prefer a secured checkout path, you can also purchase through the Taobao store or WeChat mini program. Contact support for details.

2. Why do some clothing items not include a DOG TG?

For Chrome Hearts apparel, US boutiques normally collect the DOG TG at checkout. Most Asian boutiques outside mainland China also collect it.

3. What packaging is included?

Chrome Hearts apparel usually comes in a plain clear plastic bag.

Chrome Hearts jewelry usually comes with a black suede pouch, not a boutique jewelry box.

Chrome Hearts bags usually come with a boutique silk dust bag.

Shopping bags are limited because boutiques usually provide only one shopping bag per buyer visit, not one bag per item.

If extra packaging is needed, it can be selected in the accessories category or on the order submission page.

4. Can CHHES provide boutique receipts?

Boutiques do not issue one separate receipt for each individual item. Contact support if a receipt copy is needed.

Original receipts must be kept by the buyer, so CHHES can only provide scans or copies when available.

5. What should I know about craftsmanship?

Chrome Hearts jewelry is handmade. Slightly unclear engravings, fine scratches, dark dots, or small pits can be normal brand characteristics and are not necessarily quality defects.

Chrome Hearts apparel may show fabric differences, loose threads inside the garment, uneven print clarity, irregular stitching, cracked prints, or wash fading. These can be normal brand characteristics.

6. What is a buyer store?

A buyer store works with professional overseas buyers and partner stores.

CHHES buyers are located worldwide, with many in the United States. They provide first-hand sourcing, and many also maintain domestic warehouses.

To ensure authenticity, items are centralized at the CHHES shipping point, inspected, and then packed for shipment.

7. How is a buyer store different from a personal shopper?

A personal shopper is usually an individual buyer, so sourcing capacity and available styles are limited.

A buyer store works with professional buyer teams and overseas partner stores, so supply is broader and less limited by one person or one location.

8. Why are some items not eligible for return or exchange?

Chrome Hearts boutique purchases are generally not returnable or exchangeable. Items marked as non-returnable or non-exchangeable on the product page follow that policy.

9. Why does silver turn black or yellow?

Sterling silver naturally oxidizes and can turn black or yellow. Sulfur or sulfur dioxide in the air can react with silver and form grey-black silver sulfide.

Oxidation speed varies by body chemistry and environment. Keep silver dry and avoid contact with liquids.

If silver oxidizes, use a polishing cloth or polishing stick. Do not clean Chrome Hearts silver with silver washing liquid.

Some new rings may leave a little black residue at first. This is extra silver powder from the new item and usually disappears after a period of wear.

10. Why can the pattern vary on the same ring style?

Ring pattern examples across different sizes

Patterns and letters on a ring are adjusted for different ring sizes, so the layout may vary between sizes.

11. Why is the oxidation on silver not very black?

Chrome Hearts silver oxidation color example

Chrome Hearts oxidation has its own look. It is not always deep black and can appear grey or brown-grey.

12. What are the official CHHES channels?

Please use official CHHES channels: www.chhes.com, WeChat mini program chhes, Taobao store chhes, WeChat chhes2, Douyin chhes, RED chhes1, Kuaishou chhes, and Weibo chhes.

If a store has a similar name, unusually low pricing, or cannot be verified by official support, contact CHHES support before ordering.
