Also known as the blocky bear, Bearbrick is a collectible toy produced by Medicom Toy of Japan. First launched in August 2001, by 2009 it had reached its 18 th generation. Distributed in mainland China by PPW.
Nicknames: Bearbrick, be@rbrick, BB, building-block bear, Brick Bear, Babu Brick.
Bearbrick Basic Introduction:
Style:Each BE@RBRICK generation includes base models: BASIC, JELLYBEAN, PATTERN, FLAG, HORROR, SF, CUTE, and ANIMAL.
BASIC base model:Each generation debuts in a signature color. It features one bead on its chest and 9 letters that spell B E A R B R I C K when combined.
JELLYBEAN Translucent Model:Translucent colorways appear in each generation. Primarily translucent with varying color releases.
PATTERN edition:Each series features unique prints or special patterns.
FLAG Series:Each generation features a classic flag design.
HORROR edition:Horrifying anime characters across every generation.
CUTE Collection:Each generation features one cute design, most often created by female designers.
ANIMAL Collection:Each generation includes an animal-themed design—not necessarily a real animal. The iconic Hello Kitty is the star of the Series 18.
Sci-Fi Style:Featuring an iconic sci-fi character as the design motif.
ARTIST series:Specially designed by renowned artists, with very limited quantities. (2 per generation)
Each generation also includes a varying number of hidden editions whose designs are not officially disclosed—only discoverable by collectors.
Size:Six sizes: 7 cm (100%), 14.5 cm (200%), 28 cm (400%), 70 cm (1000%), plus 3.5 cm (50%) and 5 cm (70%)
Specifications:Each generation includes a birth certificate for every bear, plus one or several limited or hidden editions to enhance the collecting experience.
Material:Bearbrick is mainly made from ABS and PVC, with some limited editions crafted from metal, wood, or flocked materials.
Origin:Most are produced in mainland China, with some limited editions manufactured abroad.
Version:Terms like 'Japanese version' and 'Hong Kong version' simply refer to the region of sale—the toys themselves are identical. All are produced at the same factory. Differences, if any, are only in certification labels required by local regulations. Everything else is exactly the same. The Mainland China version is identical to the Japanese version.
Design details:
Head:Typical bear head features: equal-sized ears (unlike Qee's mismatched sizes), slightly puffy cheeks and snout, small rounded nose protrusion, no mouth or eyes (blank face), head rotates 360° at the neck
Torso:Rounded belly, straight back
Arms:100% style features shoulder rotation, claw-shaped hands with no fingers, hands rotate freely at the wrists—key distinguishing feature from popobe and other bear collectibles
Waist:Can rotate 360° freely; hips slightly extended downward.
Legs:Can rotate freely in all directions at the thigh roots. Tops of feet slightly extended forward with two round holes on each foot. Soles are flat with a circular hole in each foot bottom. Legs are cuboid-shaped. Version info is typically on the back of the legs.
Disassembly:In principle, a Bearbrick's head, arms, and legs are detachable from the torso (just pull hard). Hands cannot be removed. Frequent disassembly is not recommended though—the connectors will loosen over time, leading to chronic looseness where parts swing and wobble without secure fit.
400% and 1000% special notes:These two sizes are identical in shape, just larger. However, their arms and legs only rotate front-to-back within a single plane and cannot move sideways. This is due to their size and internal gear mechanism, unlike the 100% which is simply modular assembly. These sizes are also non-detachable—never apply force.
Origin:Bearbrick's limbs and body resemble block figures because Bearbrick adopted the Kubrick form. The term Kubrick originated from LEGO's block figures, and Medicom built on this to design Bearbrick.
Character:Bearbrick's widespread popularity stems not only from its innovative form and meticulous painting, but also from Medicom's strategic positioning. By cross-pollinating streetwear culture, pop culture, and film with Bearbrick, they created entirely new art pieces. Collaborating with artists, designers, and brands worldwide, they released limited and special editions, often bundled with streetwear labels, leading to overnight queues and frenzied purchasing. Prices climbed accordingly, making later acquisition for collectors a costly endeavor.

1. How does CHHES ensure authenticity?

Jewelry is checked for shape, engraving, handmade finishing, material, and oxidation details. Apparel is checked for anti-counterfeit details, serial information, embroidery labels, and workmanship.
Depending on the item, CHHES can provide a counter receipt scan or copy. Original receipts are kept by the buyer for record keeping.
Items may include a security tag or anti-swap sticker. Authentication after delivery is supported when the tag and packaging remain intact.

2. Why do some clothing items not include a DOG TG?
For Chrome Hearts apparel, US boutiques normally collect the DOG TG at checkout. Most Asian boutiques outside mainland China also collect it.
3. What packaging is included?
Chrome Hearts apparel usually comes in a plain clear plastic bag.
Chrome Hearts jewelry usually comes with a black suede pouch, not a boutique jewelry box.
Chrome Hearts bags usually come with a boutique silk dust bag.
Shopping bags are limited because boutiques usually provide only one shopping bag per buyer visit, not one bag per item.
If extra packaging is needed, it can be selected in the accessories category or on the order submission page.
4. Can CHHES provide boutique receipts?
Boutiques do not issue one separate receipt for each individual item. Contact support if a receipt copy is needed.
Original receipts must be kept by the buyer, so CHHES can only provide scans or copies when available.
5. What should I know about craftsmanship?
Chrome Hearts jewelry is handmade. Slightly unclear engravings, fine scratches, dark dots, or small pits can be normal brand characteristics and are not necessarily quality defects.
Chrome Hearts apparel may show fabric differences, loose threads inside the garment, uneven print clarity, irregular stitching, cracked prints, or wash fading. These can be normal brand characteristics.
6. What is a buyer store?
A buyer store works with professional overseas buyers and partner stores.
CHHES buyers are located worldwide, with many in the United States. They provide first-hand sourcing, and many also maintain domestic warehouses.
To ensure authenticity, items are centralized at the CHHES shipping point, inspected, and then packed for shipment.
7. How is a buyer store different from a personal shopper?
A personal shopper is usually an individual buyer, so sourcing capacity and available styles are limited.
A buyer store works with professional buyer teams and overseas partner stores, so supply is broader and less limited by one person or one location.
8. Why are some items not eligible for return or exchange?
Chrome Hearts boutique purchases are generally not returnable or exchangeable. Items marked as non-returnable or non-exchangeable on the product page follow that policy.
9. Why does silver turn black or yellow?
Sterling silver naturally oxidizes and can turn black or yellow. Sulfur or sulfur dioxide in the air can react with silver and form grey-black silver sulfide.
Oxidation speed varies by body chemistry and environment. Keep silver dry and avoid contact with liquids.
If silver oxidizes, use a polishing cloth or polishing stick. Do not clean Chrome Hearts silver with silver washing liquid.
Some new rings may leave a little black residue at first. This is extra silver powder from the new item and usually disappears after a period of wear.
10. Why can the pattern vary on the same ring style?
Patterns and letters on a ring are adjusted for different ring sizes, so the layout may vary between sizes.
11. Why is the oxidation on silver not very black?
Chrome Hearts oxidation has its own look. It is not always deep black and can appear grey or brown-grey.
